US goalkeeper Briana Scurry made the penalty(惩罚) shoot－out save that decided the Women's World Cup championship through a deliberate(故意) rule violation(违反), according to the Los Angeles Time.
Scurry allegedly(宣称) admitted guilt(理亏), the Times said.
"Everybody does it," Scurry told the Los Angeles Times. "It's only cheating if you get caught."
The United States depended on goalkeeper Briana Scurry's save of Liu Ying's penalty shot to become champions. The US defeated China 5－4 on penalties on Sunday after the two sides battled to a scoreless draw.
In photographs(照片), Scurry is shown forward of the line crossing(越过) the goal mouth while China's Liu was still in the run－up for her penalty shot.
Goalkeepers must remain on the line until the moment a penalty kick is struck. The penalty for the foul(犯规) is a replay of the penalty shot.
Scurry said she noticed no reaction(反应)from the referee(裁判) after leaving the line on the two earlier kicks that she failed to save and determined(决定)it was worth the gamble, the report added.
